Retraction Ring

 

When the birth process, upper segments of uterine actively contractions while the lower segment of uterine will be increasingly soft dilated. From this process will occur thickening and thinning of  upper and lower segment of uterine. It called as a physiologic retraction ring.

In certain circumstances, such as bad deliveries, this ring is very prominent and form a pathological retraction ring. This is an abnormal situation which is also called a ring Bandl.
