Difference of Woman Users Body Weight Before and After Six Months Using DMPA

ABSTRACT

 

A study about using injected contraceptive DMPA (Depo Medroxyprogesteron Asetat) has been done. The aim of this study is to prove the mean difference of woman users body weight before and after six months using DMPA in Kelurahan Sekip Jaya and Pahlawan, Kecamatan Kemuning, Palembang. This is an analytic study with measured mean of woman users body weight before and after six months using injected contraceptive DMPA. Samples of this study were carried out with multistage sampling.

The total of samples was 98 injected contraceptive DMPA of woman users in Kelurahan Sekip Jaya and Pahlawan, Kecamatan Kemuning, Palembang and data source from contraceptive user card. The independent variable was injected contraceptive DMPA for six months and dependent variable was their body weight. From this study, the most interval of age was 30-40 years as 48 users. The most interval of body weight before using injected contraceptive DMPA was 45-54 kgs as 51 users. The most interval of body weight after six months using injected contraceptive DMPA was 45-54 kgs as 39 users. The most interval of difference body weight after six months using injected contraceptive DMPA was 3-8 kgs as 50 users. The mean of body weight before and after six months using injected contraceptive DMPA was 49.775 kgs and 55.321 kgs. From the result of paired t test showed p = 0,000      (p < 0,05). It meaned there was a significant difference between mean of body weight before and after six months using DMPA. The mean of difference was 5,546 kg (CI 4,520-6,571). From that result could be concluded that there was a mean difference of woman users body weight before and after six months using DMPA in Kelurahan Sekip Jaya and Pahlawan, Kecamatan Kemuning, Palembang.
